My Cross To Carry(Diary of a Believer)

May 27,2017|Entry 1
I’m learning that there is a reason in every season. Christ carried the cross which held the sins of the world and I can’t break because the load on my cross is mines alone. It’s burdens light in comparison to what Christ carried for us all. On April 22, 2017 I gave my life back to him and he promised me that together we would fight whatever may come . In this very moment he is showing me that it’s going to get worse before it gets better and knowing this allows me to praise him in my darkness as if it were the light.I don’t claim to know the Master’s vision, but I’m trusting in the process! #ifyoustayready #youwonthavetogetready

The Beauty of Christ

The Beauty of Christ

As water reflects the face,
so one’s life reflects the heart. Proverbs 27:19

When one thinks about beauty they typically think about the outward appearance. Hair, makeup, clothes, ETC. Basically all of the things visible to the eye. In some instances how we express ourselves through fashion can be viewed as a genuine expression for the “Art of Wear”, but if we are being honest, most of us dress to feel “presentable” to the world. To feel accepted. So the question stands, what about the internal art? What about the spiritual art? 2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Example, someone comes to church wearing a “Jesus Saves” t-shirt, says God bless to everyone, lifts their hand in rejoices in service, but outside of church the internalize beauty of the Master is nowhere to be seen. Yes, we all fall short and we are constantly striving to be closer to him everyday, but that’s not to say that people who proclaim Christ as their savior don’t “dress” the part in turn missing the entire reason for being His. Samuel 16:7 says, “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look.” So what does God look at? He looks at your heart. He wants to see your love for him adorn the crown of your spirit, he wants to see it draped in his praise, and he needs to see it cloaked in his word. That’s the beauty of Christ. That’s the beauty that can be found in you.  1 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” So if you are going to wear Christ on the outside, make sure that it matches the inside. You should want others to look at you and see the light of God exuding from the inside out. That’s beauty that can’t be purchased or surgically created. That’s authentic peace when you let Him in. It’s an eternal beauty that never ages.

Are You All In?!?

My affirmation this week is a simple question, are you all in? I was able to hear one of my favorite speakers TD Jakes this weekend and he spoke about getting back what you put in. It doesn’t matter if it’s relationships, careers, health, or finances you have to make sure that you are setting yourself up for success by giving every aspect of your life 100%. That’s my Well-Being Monday Motivation Motto (that’s a tongue twister lol) this week.

The Crest of God

Before writing this I asked God to lead and guide my pen.  I asked that he allow my message to be a sense of healing, hope, and a confirmation of his presence. I asked that he allowed his word to be my therapy. Everyday this month I made it my mission to read the book of Proverbs. Each of its chapters according to the day of the month. For example, Proverbs 2 for May 2nd. Out of all the books, my spirit was lead back to Proverbs 3:3 which says, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Now, I read this verse over and over again and the only word that kept coming to mind was crest. Well I knew crest in the sense of being displayed on a shield or military jacket as representation of something like a family. But here are the following definitions for the word crest (defined by Google):

Noun: crest, plural noun: crests

A distinctive device borne above the shield of a coat of arms (originally as worn on a helmet), or separately reproduced, for example on writing paper or silverware, to represent a family or corporate body.

What I also discovered is that the word crest has multiple meanings. It also means a comb or tuft of feathers, fur, or skin on the head of a bird or other animal. It’s also defined as the top of something, (especially a mountain or hill, peak, top, tip, pinnacle, and crown). Now the anatomy of the word crest is also defined as a ridge along the surface of a bone and the upper line of the neck of a mammal (Humans are mammals).

So I went back and I read Proverbs 3:3 again, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Bind them around your neck. Like a crest….

So I said okay God I see where you’re going. Then I started to think about the fact that so often it’s so easy for us to judge as oppose to being more open minded and understanding. We so easily hinder as oppose to helping. It’s easier to hate, than to love. Why? Well, I will tell you why. It’s because selfishness avoids feelings, the avoidance of feelings hides truth and denying the truth prevents you from taking an honest look at yourself. No one really wants to look pass (or past, catch that!) the mask that we put on every day. A mask is like a sheet over the truth because a lie is so much easier to create because it allows YOU to play author. So if you’re writing this story then how can you truly ask God to come into your life and have His way when your crest is a mask of deceit?

So God is saying if you choose him then you must wear my crest. Again Proverbs 3:3, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” He is saying my crest is love and faithfulness. I want you to bind them around your neck (this crest). I want you to show me your commitment and tattoo it on your heart because once you do that then I’ll know it’s real. You will notice that once you put on that crest then your mask of deceit will begin to crack, but that isn’t enough.

Then he said I will give you a crest of feathers on the top of your head like that of a bird. Proverbs 3:21 says, “My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion.” Like a crest of protection, a helmet that protects your head which holds your brain (that’s your mind from which comes wisdom and understanding). This helmet, do not let it go (do not lose it) because it’s that valuable. This crest, this helmet, do not let it out of your sight.

Then he said I need you to look up towards that crest, that peak and you will see me. I am the pinnacle. I am the top. My crown is eternal. Look to that hill from which comes your help. You will need to look there to find me to remind you to keep your sound judgement and discretion.

This is how you can preserve your life. This is how I will save you he said with my armor.

He said wear this too, grace, as an ornament. My crest it will protect your neck.

Here is your shield, my crest of love and faithfulness. It will guard your chest (that holds your heart).

Here is my crest, this helmet. This is protection for your head which holds wisdom and understanding.

Now that I have suited you, go…

Then we get to Proverbs 2:23-26 and it says, “Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.

When he snared, I found out that meant trap. A lot of times we fall into traps when we don’t use our senses/common sense.  Sometimes when God covers you, when he crowns you, when he places that crest on you, that holy armor can feel like he is attacking all of your senses.

Proverbs 3:1 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart “. He is reminding you don’t forget what I said. That means what your heard (hearing).

Proverbs 3:3 “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart. “
Love is in your heart. That’s what you feel. So much sometimes that it feels tangible. Tangible means to touch.

Proverbs 3:21 “My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; “. This one gets a little tricky so stay with me. Wisdom is in connection to understanding. Understanding is what your mind allows you to interpret (pause). Interpret is what allows you to judge and have discretion. Picking back up at interpret, which is in relation to what your mind processes and you perceive with your eyes, which provides you sight, to look towards that crest where God sits looking at you.

Like the definition he has showed me my crest, a distinctive device borne above the shield of a coat of arms (His protection). Originally as worn on a helmet (that’s wisdom and understanding), or separately reproduced, for example on writing paper( his Holy word, The Bible) or silverware (He’s feeding me with enough to sustain me through this world), to represent a family ( The Family of Christ) or corporate body. God is the CEO of this ENTIRE Corporation when his body hung on that cross, now he owns my body, my temple.

Now once you take all of those senses: Hearing, touching, and sight, you begin to smell the victory. Victory allows you to taste his grace. His grace is as sweet as honey. Now that he has tapped into every last one of your senses, you will FEEL your mask begin to crumble and SEE it fall to your feet. Now you are TASTING truth! HEARING his promise! FEELING and SEEING his blessings! Allow God to attack your senses. Allow Him to adorn you with his crest of eternal life.
